Asia Kitchen’s online ordering system is remarkably user friendly, which is impressive given the size of their menu. This small take-out restaurant located off Lake Howell Road in Winter Park offers dishes drawn from Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai cuisines. Always on the hunt for good take-out and intrigued by the variety on the menu, we decided to give them a try.
We started with an order of summer rolls and hot and sour soup, both of which had fresh ingredients and were solid dishes. Our order of Mein Fun consisted of firm, thin rice noodles stir-fried with bright crunchy vegetables. This was a surprisingly light noodle dish with impressively fresh vegetables, but the sauce could have used a little more depth to make it truly savory. The Kung Pao Beef had very tender meat and slight heat, but it too would have benefited from a little more zing. Overall, Asia Kitchen’s use of quality ingredients resulted in appetizing dishes; but for our taste the flavors could be a bit bolder.
Mein Fun with vegetables $7.95
Kung Pao with beef (full size / 2 servings) $8.99 (half size/ 1 serving) $7.75
